This study assessed participants’ awareness of the utilization of sports facilities and equipment for sports development in girls’ boarding senior secondary schools in Katsina State, Nigeria. The research employed a survey design, targeting all teachers and students from fourteen girls’ boarding schools, comprising 522 teachers and 7,565 students. Multi-stage sampling was used to select a representative sample of 217 (teachers and students). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measured on a four-point Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Chi-Square) at a 0.05 significance level. Findings revealed that the overall level of awareness among participants was low, with a weighted mean score of 2.78 out of 4.0. While participants demonstrated moderate awareness of commonly used sports facilities such as volleyball, basketball, and handball, awareness of less commonly utilized facilities, including field hockey, fives, tennis, and badminton, was particularly low. Chi-Square analysis indicated a statistically significant level of awareness among respondents (χ² = 89.940, p < 0.05), highlighting the critical role of participant engagement in the effective utilization of sports resources. The study concluded that  although facilities and equipment are available, limited awareness and utilization hinder the potential impact of sports development programs in girls’ boarding schools. It is recommended that schools implement structured awareness campaigns and teacher training programs to promote equitable access, enhance utilization of sports facilities, and support holistic sports development for female students.
